Acupuncture is a branch of Chinese Medicine, developed in Asia where it has been practiced for over 2000 years. Still used today, it is a complementary method of treatment for a full range of health issues.

Acupuncture is based on the concept of energy or “qi,” (pronounced “chee”). According to Chinese Medicine, energy flows throughout the body along 12 main pathways or meridians. If this energy becomes blocked or depleted, an imbalance occurs directly leading to symptoms and/or illness. By inserting tiny needles on points along these channels, health is restored by treating the imbalance and thus harmonizing the energy. The body is then restored to a state of equilibrium

The initial appointment is an hour and a half in length. Follow-up appointments are an hour.

Follow-up treatments are an hour and the number of treatments required is different for each person, depending upon age, lifestyle, condition, and response to the treatments. In general, fewer treatments are needed for acute conditions, while more are needed for chronic ones. Consistency is important in maintaining the effectiveness of acupuncture treatments.
